VCOC Crime Warnings
THE FISHERMAN
On the Orihuela Costa and Laguna Green we normally have a very low rate of crime throughout the year. In fact during the first three months of this year we only had 12 houses or premises attacked.
However, during the summer months of May, June, July, August, September and October in 2013, on the Orihuela Costa where we had groups we recorded a total of 55 houses or premises attacked and we know of about another 15 which occurred where we do not have groups. The majority of these were committed during the late night hours between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. in the areas of Villa Martin, Playa Flamenca and Los Altos using a pole with a net on the end put through a window to remove articles including keys left on view inside the room.
After October the numbers dropped down to normal showing 11 for the rest of that year.
In April of this year we had a similar crime reported in the Villa Martin area where car keys and a remote control for the residencia gates were stolen together with the hire car.
ON KNOWING WHAT HAPPENED IN 2013, PLEASE WARN ALL RESIDENTS AND VISITORS TO NOT LEAVE VULNERABLE WINDOWS OPEN AND NOT TO LEAVE ANY ARTICLES ON VIEW FROM OUTSIDE ESPECIALLY DURING THE NIGHT.
THIS YEAR LET US BE PREPARED AND NOT LET THE THIEVES GET AWAY WITH IT AGAIN.
SHOULD ANYONE HEAR OR SEE ANYTHING SUSPICIOUS CALL THE POLICE IMMEDIATELY. EVEN IF IT TURNS OUT TO BE A FALSE ALARM AS IN THE EYES OF THE POLICE IT DOESN´T MATTER PROVIDING THAT IT IS NOT MADE WITH MALICIOUS INTENT. THE GUARDIA CIVIL AND POLICIA LOCAL ARE VERY EFFICIENT AND FAST TO ATTEND INCIDENTS.
VICTIMS ON FINDING THEIR HOUSE BROKEN INTO SHOULD NOT DISTURB ANYTHING WITHIN BUT CALL THE POLICE IMMEDIATELY ON 112. THEY WANT TO ASSESS WHETHER SPECIALIST AGENTS SHOULD LOOK FOR CLUES.
